Job description

Medical Science Liaison - Hereditary Cancer

Chicago, IL

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Medical Science Liaison – Hereditary Cancer focus (MSL) serves as a key field-based scientific resource engaging clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations to support Natera's oncology products. The MSL facilitates the exchange of scientific information, builds key relationships, and drives awareness of Natera's evolving portfolio.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide scientific and / or clinical presentations on data that support Natera's Oncology products with a focus on Hereditary Cancer offerings.
  • Serve as a medical and scientific resource for the Natera US / International Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Bio Pharma teams.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Healthcare Providers, and Customers as pertains to Natera's Oncology products and the field of Oncology.
  • Collaborate with lab operations to provide additional healthcare provider information regarding Natera products.
  • Represent Natera at various scientific and clinical congress meetings.
  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain scientific and clinical expertise.
  • Provide medical expertise for the creation of materials, communication tools, and publications to ensure medical accuracy.
  • Support and coordinate ongoing clinical trial and research initiatives at academic institutions and study sites.
  • Travel extensively (over 60%) as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling.
  • ABGC or ABMG Board certified.
  • Minimum of 3 years oncology clinic experience required.
  • MSL / Industry experience preferred.
  • Must live within assigned / advertised territory.

  • Outgoing and confident demeanor, independent thinker, and persuasive communicator.
  • Experience in establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholder functions (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D) and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining a strong teamwork ethic.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Employs strategic thinking to contribute to product, departmental, and organizational plans and goals.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and capacity to adjust to change and adapt to unexpected tasks, issues, changes in strategy, or department needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to read, interpret, and convey complex scientific information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • This is a remote position and often work requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking long distances. Ability to travel is required.
  • This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Employees must complete training relating to HIPAA / PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain current status on Natera training requirements.

COMPENSATION :

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
