The MSL's key objective is to impact clinical practice within the assigned territory, leading to improved patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute relevant activities aligned with the medical strategic and tactical plan—while adhering to the Novartis Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights and understanding their strategic potential.

This territory covers MN, WI, ND, and SD. The preferred location for the successful candidate is in the Greater Minneapolis, MN, or Madison, WI areas. This is a remote position.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. The MSL will leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships with HCPs (including community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) and thought leaders in the geographical area, in line with medical strategy.
  2. The primary responsibility is engaging with customers through activities such as: discussing emerging data, clinical trial activities, identifying barriers in the patient journey, understanding market dynamics, exploring unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, disease and product education, capturing adverse events, and gathering medical insights across the product lifecycle.
  3. Demonstrate strategic territory vision by identifying key stakeholders, mapping, and planning Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts aligned with medical strategy, in collaboration with internal colleagues. This includes:
    1. Identifying influential stakeholders in the disease space and product development lifecycle for education, engagement, and partnership strategies.
    2. Seeking partnership opportunities with academic centers and systems of care to drive impact.
    3. Involving HCPs or MEs when specific medical needs are identified, such as publications or clinical trial participation.
    4. Collaborating internally with other Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic, clinical, or product goals.
  4. Providing clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials, facilitating relevant medical activities, and working cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  5. Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, sales) to advance clinical practice while maintaining customer centricity and compliance standards.
  6. Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis compounds to serve as a medical resource internally and externally.
  7. Staying informed about internal policies and external regulations affecting day-to-day responsibilities.
  8. Executing administrative tasks and training (e.g., CRM updates, compliance modules) promptly, including profiling core customers.
  9. Championing emerging responsibilities as priorities evolve and proactively pursuing personal and professional development.
