Medical Science Liaison (Finance)

This is a remote traveling role, you must live near a major airport in the territory. Territory is: Great Lakes/Central region: Denver, CO; Madison, WI; Omaha, NE; Minneapolis, MN; Saint Paul, MN; Colorado Springs, CO.

Role and Responsibilities
  • As the Medical Science Liasion (MSL), you will develop and maintain a network of Merz Therapeutics relationships with regional, national and international key opinion leaders.
  • The relationships you cultivate will span core specialties (Neurologists, Adult Physical Rehabilitation Medicine, ENT) related to the Merz Therapeutics portfolio and pave the way for future pipeline products within the communities we serve.
  • Generate clinical data in support of the Merz Therapeutics portfolio and facilitate broad dissemination of clinical information to support the therapeutics business.
  • Serve as BU scientific product expert in support of internal stakeholders and high-level key opinion leaders.
  • Identify and support investigator initiated trials, assist with clinical slide decks, aid in publication review and development, create scientific messaging and materials for the medical affairs team, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Managing Key Opinion Leader Relationships
  • Drive regional, national, and international KOL identification, development, and support across core specialties (Neurologists, Adult PM&R, ENT).
  • Respond to unsolicited requests from healthcare providers and payers for medical information on company products and pipeline.
  • Develop and implement educational messaging plans to increase scientific awareness and advocacy among healthcare providers.
  • Manage scientific exchange and provide fair balanced scientific responses to managed care decision makers at commercial and federal plans.
  • Support grants, IITs, advocacy/speaking opportunities and educational requests.
  • Maintain high level of clinical knowledge of Merz Therapeutics portfolio and competitors to enhance credibility.
  • Provide competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders.
Manage Medical Congress Activities and Planning
  • Profile and plan for assigned medical meetings; manage calendar of events and lead senior level interactions with KOLs.
  • Educate congress faculty on Merz Therapeutics portfolio to raise awareness of new indications and identify educational opportunities; communicate follow-up activities to commercial teams where appropriate.
  • Observe and audit relevant sessions at medical meetings; follow up on educational opportunities and provide post-meeting reports on educational value.
Be a Brand Lead Expert
  • Serve as Merz Therapeutics product lead expert to support clinical and scientific commercial needs (brand workshops, training, and materials for medical affairs).
  • Execute scientific and clinical workshops for internal meetings to strengthen scientific acumen across divisions.
  • Facilitate company-sponsored IITs, including milestones, recruitment and publication planning.
  • Provide feedback from interactions with thought leaders to Medical and Clinical teams; facilitate investigator interactions with R&D.
Aid Scientific Advisory Boards
  • Aid in the execution of Medical Affairs advisory boards to identify knowledge gaps, resolve problems, support product development, and reach consensus on treatment guidelines.
Travel Opportunities
  • Minimum 60% field travel, including weekends and overnights, for KOL visits, managed markets meetings and attendance at medical meetings.

Knowledge of Methods (required)
  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions, including clinical trials and unsolicited medical information responses.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing commercial and scientific interactions.
  • Maintain adherence to company compliance policies and government regulations; foster integrity.
  • Working knowledge of PhRMA and AdvaMed Code and FDA regulations regarding marketing of prescription drug and medical device products (preferred).
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong clinical knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Business acumen and knowledge of therapeutics/neurosciences industry and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills.
