Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) seeks a Medical Retina Specialist to join the Ophthalmology Division. This role can be full- or part-time, delivering retina care at CHA Eye Center sites in Somerville and Malden, with teaching opportunities for HMS and CHA trainees.

The position covers diagnosis and management of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, and hereditary retinal diseases, including office-based injections and laser photocoagulation.

Qualifications

• Board-certified ophthalmologist
• Fellowship trained in medical retina
• Massachusetts medical license or ability to obtain
• Experience in teaching medical students and residents
• Excellent clinical and communication skills
• Commitment to culturally competent care

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and consult on macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal disorders
• Perform office-based retina procedures (intravitreal injections, laser photocoagulation)
• Collaborate with HMS/CHA trainees and faculty; potential HMS appointment
• Provide education and mentorship within the ophthalmology program
• Maintain high-quality patient care in CHA Eye Center locations (Somerville and Malden)

We are currently recruiting a Medical Retina Specialist to join our well-established Ophthalmology Division within the Department of Surgery.

About the position:

• Full-time or part-time opportunity, providing services at CHA's Eye Center locations in Somerville and Malden
• Diagnosis and consultation to include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular problems, and hereditary retinal disorders
• Procedures will be office-based and include intravitreal injections and retinal laser photocoagulation
• Position affords the opportunity to work with Harvard Medical Students, and residents in HMS and CHA affiliated training programs. A Harvard Medical School Faculty appointment at the level of Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor, full or part time, is possible and encouraged commensurate with HMS criteria, candidate qualifications, and commitment to teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology
• Fellowship training in medical retina
• License to practice medicine in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain)

• Dedication to ensuring culturally appropriate care

Benefits and Compensation:

• We offer a full-time guaranteed base salary plus production incentive. Based on years of experience, salary ranges from $420,000 - $470,000.
