Job summary

US Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Records Coder to perform technical coding assignments for accurate claims submission at facilities in Pine Ridge, SD and Kyle, SD.

Qualified applicants will have at least 1 year of specialized experience at GS-07 level and must obtain a coding certification within one year of appointment (CPC or AHIMA). A recruitment incentive may apply for new appointees and relocation incentives are available for current federal employees.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07.
• Certification required within 1 year of appointment (CPC or AHIMA).
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical medical records coding for accurate claims submission.
• Identify code issues and correct sequencing with providers.
• Operate office automated systems to submit coding transactions.
