Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking candidate who is eager to immerse themselves in dermatology and contribute to a collaborative medical practice. The ideal candidate will have prior knowledge in healthcare and is willing to gain valuable experience. The Medical Receptionist/Clinical Medical Assistant will report directly to the Business Manager and will be an integral part of a team committed to providing exceptional patient care. This versatile role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities, working closely with the MD and another medical assistant to ensure efficient office operations and positive patient experiences.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical:

Patient History: Accurately record and update patient medical histories using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for examinations and assist the MD during procedures.

Documentation: Transcribe and maintain medical record documentation using EMR applications.

Patient Communication: Explain treatment procedures to patients to ensure they are informed and comfortable.

Specimen Handling: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, ensuring proper handling and processing.

Sanitation: Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments as required.

Equipment Management: Arrange and maintain examining-room instruments and equipment.

Inventory Control: Manage inventory by ordering supplies, verifying receipts, and auditing stock levels.

Sterilization: Conduct sterilization of surgical instruments using an autoclave.

Room Maintenance: Keep waiting and examining rooms clean and organized.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with medical record standards through accurate self-documentation.

Additional Tasks: Perform other clerical duties to support provider productivity and clinic workflow.

Administrative:

Call Management: Answer incoming calls and respond to voicemails in a timely manner.

Scheduling: Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal time management.

Patient Interaction: Greet and check in patients, verify insurance status, and confirm the purpose of the visit.

Record Keeping: Update and file patient medical records as necessary.

Correspondence: Handle correspondence, including emails and patient portal communications.

Billing: Record billing information, complete insurance forms, and address insurance inquiries.

Payment Collection: Collect patient payments and manage related transactions.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical environment, or completion of relevant college coursework such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, or Clinical Practices in Healthcare.

Proven competency in managing clinic patients with a high degree of professionalism.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to handle high-pressure situations with confidentiality and sensitivity.

Strong attention to detail.

Experience in a dermatology setting is preferred but not required.

Working Standards and Conditions

Proficiency in operating a computer keyboard, iPad, printer, and office phone.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of basic arithmetic and medical terminology.

Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
