Summary:

The Medical Receptionist is under the direct supervision of the office manager or practice administrator to optimize patient experience by performing duties such as greeting patients, scheduling, bookkeeping, answering and routing calls, accepting payments, and maintaining patient accounts. May take direction from team lead as appropriate.

Responsibilities:
Education
  • High School diploma or GED required
Experience
  • Preferred one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting involving clerical, office, patient accounting, and reception tasks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service and telephone skills
  • Knowledge of medical insurance, health maintenance organizations, and healthcare topics
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology, including ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word and email
  • Patient-focused attitude and skills
  • Organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain composure under pressure
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Motivated and willing to contribute to departmental improvements
  • Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home, MIPS, HEDIS (preferred)
