Join to apply for the Medical Receptionist role at Waterbury Hospital.

The Medical Receptionist attends to patients in person and on the phone. Coordinates and organizes appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care. Reports to Practice Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner in person or over the phone.
  2. Obtains accurate patient demographic information, updates in the computer system, scans or copies IDs and insurance cards, and updates the electronic health record accordingly.
  3. Requests payment at the time of service, provides receipts, registers payments, and reconciles all payments at day's end. Distributes Hardship forms and notes them in comments.
  4. Answers multi-line phones, schedules appointments, takes messages, and handles referral requests per policy.
  5. Maintains operations by staying updated on electronic health records and office policies and procedures.
  6. Assists with printing and copying medical records and other materials, documenting appropriately.
  7. Verifies PCP and insurance eligibility, documenting verification numbers when required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of current front office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Strong phone and computer skills with knowledge of medical office processes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines and electronic medical records.
  • Effective communication with diverse individuals.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
