QuadMed is seeking a Medical Receptionist for our employer health center in Newport News, VA. The role handles front desk duties, patient greeting, phone coverage, appointment scheduling, and patient registration to support primary care services.

Responsibilities include insurance forms, data entry, referrals, and travel to alternate sites as needed within the QuadMed Float Pool. Requires a High School diploma and CPR/BLS certification within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Experience in receptionist or healthcare preferred.
• Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide front desk support.
• Answer phones, take concise messages and schedule appointments.
• Provide registration forms and instructions for completion.
• Process, code, and complete insurance claims forms.
• Maintain patient scheduling, billing and data entry tasks.
• Arrange hospital admissions and outside referrals.
• Protect patient PHI and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

QuadMed is looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our team in Newport News, VA. Join our employer health center with a focus in primary care!

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Medical Receptionist is part of the team dedicated to providing comprehensive, accessible care and superior evidence-based medicine through innovative practices focusing on wellness and prevention. The Medical Receptionist aids with daily activities of a medical office including greeting patients, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, patient registration, and patient referrals. This position answers the telephone and either replies to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage email for response by medical personnel. Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Front desk reception
• Greets patients, answers phone, takes concise telephone messages and schedules appointments
• Provides patient with all necessary registration forms, and gives instructions on completion of forms
• Processes, codes, and completes insurance claims forms
• Uses communication skills with proper medical terminology
• Performs computer skills in patient billing, transcription, scheduling, insurance claims, accounts receivables, and data entry
• Arranges for hospital admissions and outside referrals
• Performs other position related duties as assigned
• Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment
• Maintains confidentiality of patient PHI and adheres to all HIPAA regulations
• Pick up additional shifts and/or travel to alternate site(s) as needed as requested if employed as part of the QuadMed Float Pool Program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Receptionist and/or healthcare industry experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
