Job summary

OhioHealth in Ohio seeks administrative and basic clinical support to assist physician practices and ensure quality healthcare delivery. This role does not function as a formal Medical Assistant but may perform basic rooming and vitals if needed.

Training will occur before placement in ambulatory care sites, with day shifts and a 40-hour week. You will work within a team to maintain patient flow and accurate EMR documentation, contributing to safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Successful completion of competency-based orientation program
  • One year of experience typically gained through healthcare field

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and basic patient care skills as needed
  • Care Connect EMR documentation
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure information is current
  • Pend medical orders and medication refills
  • Record vitals and rooming, and perform EKG as necessary
  • Process prescription refill orders and document telephone encounters
  • Communicate with patients and healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain cleanliness of work environment and equipment
  • Manage office logs and rounding summaries
  • Enter external data into EMR accurately

Job Description Summary

Provides administrative and basic level clinical support to physician practices to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services. This role does not function as a formal Medical Assistant but may be required to perform basic, non-invasive rooming and VS skills if needed.

Attends training to gain clinical experience before placement into ambulatory care site.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Successful completion of competency-based orientation program.
  • One year of experience typically gained through healthcare field
Responsibilities And Duties

Successful completion of clinical competencies established for the practice site enabling efficient and effective patient flow, ie. Rooming, medication refills, basic patient care skills.

Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills

Performs necessary administrative duties that assure all information is current and updated

Conducts following tasks as appropriate

Pend medical orders and medication refills

Perform and record vitals and rooming

Perform EKG as necessary

Prescription refill orders

Document telephone encounters

  • Communicates, collaborates, and anticipates the needs of the health care team in order to ensure continuity and quality of care and coordination of services.
  • Maintains and cleans environment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate dept/unit personnel.
  • Stocks and cleans exam room after use.
  • Communicates malfunctioning equipment/ instruments to appropriate department/unit staff. Removes from service any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Orders and puts away supplies.
  • Provides transport assistance to patients when needed (i.e. wheelchair, walker, etc.).
  • Maintaining office logs and rounding summaries.
  • Completes paperwork preparation for office.
  • Enters external data into EMR system correctly.
  • Communicates with patients and customers in a respectful and caring manner
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Promotes and advocates for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives. Acts as a role model
  • Is compliant with scope of practice
