Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking an Administrative Support / Clinical Assistant to assist physician practices with basic clinical and clerical tasks. The role includes rooming patients, recording vitals, EMR documentation in Care Connect, and coordinating between the health care team.

The position provides training, supports patient safety, and contributes to smooth clinic operations in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. Day shifts with 40 hours weekly are typical.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED (Required).
  • Experience in clinical support or medical assisting preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic rooming and vitals.

Responsibilities

  • Complete clinical competencies for the practice site to enable efficient patient flow (e.g., rooming, medication refills, basic patient care).
  • Perform EMR documentation in Care Connect.
  • Attend training to gain clinical experience before placement at ambulatory care site.
  • Perform rooming, vitals, and basic patient care tasks as needed.
  • Assist with prescription refills and medication requests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of exam rooms and equipment.

This role does not function as a formal Medical Assistant but may be required to perform basic, non-invasive rooming and VS skills if needed.Attends training to gain clinical experience before placement into ambulatory care site.Responsibilities And Duties:RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESSuccessful completion of clinical competencies established for the practice site enabling efficient and effective patient flow, ie. Rooming, medication refills, basic patient care skills.Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skillsPerforms necessary administrative duties that assure all information is current and updatedConducts following tasks as appropriatePend medical orders and medication refillsPerform and record vitals and roomingPerform EKG as necessaryPrescription refill ordersDocument telephone encounterso Communicates, collaborates, and anticipates the needs of the health care team in order to ensure continuity and quality of care and coordination of services.o Maintains and cleans environment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate dept/unit personnel.o Stocks and cleans exam room after use.o Communicates malfunctioning equipment/ instruments to appropriate department/unit staff. Removes from service any malfunctioning equipment.o Orders and puts away supplies.o Provides transport assistance to patients when needed (i.e. wheelchair, walker, etc.).o Maintaining office logs and rounding summaries.o Completes paperwork preparation for office.o Enters external data into EMR system correctly.o Communicates with patients and customers in a respectful and caring mannero Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.o Promotes and advocates for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives.
