Job summary

OhioHealth Corporation is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Urgent Care Mansfield site. The role supports physicians with patient care, completes Care Connect EMR documentation, and handles administrative duties to ensure efficient patient flow.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED with additional Medical Assistant training or equivalent experience. The shift is in the evening, with a 36-hour weekly schedule and a focus on patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • One of: Medical Assisting program, accredited school of Medical Assisting, Military Medic training, EMT-P certification, or 1+ year experience as Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient flow and prepares patients for visits.
  • Completes EMR documentation and maintains inbox.
  • Performs administrative duties to keep information current and compliant.
  • Maintains clean environment and communicates equipment issues.
  • Communicates with patients and healthcare team to ensure quality care.
  • Provides education and support as directed by clinicians.
  • Assists in training new staff and supports process improvements.

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physician with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, routine clinical and administrative duties as needed to meet the needs of the practice to which it is assigned. The duties of the Medical Assistant vary from office to office based on size and specialty of the practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or Equivalent AND one of the following:

  • Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or
  • Completion of Military Medic training, or
  • Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or
  • At least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting.
Responsibilities And Duties:
  • Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow including preparing thepatient for the visitand providingspecific services as determined byproviders in accordance withproviderlicensure, OHpolicyand scope of practice.
  • Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
  • Performs necessary administrative duties that assure all information is current and updated. Includes maintenance and monitoring of EMRin basket.
  • Maintains and cleans environment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriatedept/unit personnel.
  • Communicates with patients and customers in a respectful and caring manner.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and anticipates the needs of the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care and coordination of services.
  • Collects andmonitors patient data; reportspatient data and patient need as directed.
  • Maintainsdocumentation guidelines aroundpatient chargeable items/services.
  • Ensuresprocesses and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness,and efficiency.
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Promotes and advocates for patient quality, safety,and experience initiatives.Acts as a role model.
  • Serves as SME/resource to thedept/unit/practice in areas such as quality, performance improvement, andEMR(i.e., EPICSuper User).
  • Has oversight of efficient and effective patient flow including preparing the patient for the visit/admission and providing specific services and education as determined by the providers in accordance with licensure and policy.
  • Leads and supportsdevelopment ofstandard work and developsnecessary customizations.
  • Functions as a clinical preceptor and is responsible for training new staff.
  • Is compliant with scope of practice.
