Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Medical Physicist to oversee operational aspects of medical physics in radiation oncology. Responsibilities include QA, calibration, treatment planning data management, and dose calculation for patient treatments, with collaboration across clinicians to ensure safety and accuracy.

You will design and verify treatment tools, participate in ongoing practice improvement, and maintain compliance with safety regulations while supporting multiple clinical sites as needed.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Medical Physics.
• CAMPEP-accredited residency or 3 years clinical experience.
• Strong knowledge of QA, dosimetry, and treatment delivery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver continuing education on medical physics, equipment, and radiation safety.
• Perform acceptance testing and verification of x-ray equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance of QC instrumentation for image quality and patient treatment measurements.
• Design treatment aides and beam modifiers as needed.
• Consult with radiation oncologists on treatment plans and dose calculations.
• Acquire and store data for treatment planning in planning computer systems.
• Calculate dose distributions and machine settings for patient treatments.
• Develop techniques to improve delivery of radiation treatments.
• Perform calibration and verification of radioactive sources and equipment.
• Review treatment plans and perform chart checks for accuracy.
