Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Periodic evaluation of equipment for lifespan and replacement decisions.
• Contribute to design and implementation of quality management for external beam radiotherapy equipment and procedures.
• Assist in managing radiation oncology information systems, including usage protocols and data storage.
• Radiation safety duties including monitoring, reports, and regulatory issues.
• Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments.

Job description

Our client is looking to hire a Medical Physicist who will be located at both the Oncology Denton/Dennison Cancer Center, which is a community-based cancer center treating an average of 40 patients per day. Additionally, the center has very active PSI and HDR programs, treating more than 300 HDR treatments per year. The Denton/Plano West/Dennison radiation therapy team consists of one Radiation Oncologist, one Chief Medical Physicist, two site Medical Physicists (shared across the region), two Dosimetrists, three Radiation Therapists, and one CT Technologist. While operationally independent, the center is part of a network POD that consists of two nearby, fully staffed, centers located in Mt Pleasant and Greenville in the North East Texas region. Periodic travel to the other two sites is required based on the POD dynamic and staff coverage.

Responsibilities

• Periodic evaluation of all equipment for continued utility, appropriateness, reliable performance, age, and condition to make recommendations on practical life span, obsolescence, and replacement
• Contribute to the design and implementation of all aspects of the quality management program that includes the use of external beam radiotherapy equipment as well as the review and proposal of changes to procedures followed by radiation therapy staff
• Assist in the management of radiation oncology information systems, including development of usage protocols, maintenance, and data storage
• Radiation safety duties for the practice, including assisting with employee monitoring, reports, and regulatory issues
• Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments

• Eclipse, and Oncentra treatment planning systems
• HDR planning and treatment
• ARIA ROIS and Mosiaq ROIS
• SBRT and SRS procedures

Qualifications

• CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Medical Physics
• Valid Texas Medical Board license
• American Board of Radiology certification or board eligible
• Preferred two years of experience as a certified medical physicist
• Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR
• Experience with Varian linear accelerators
• Experience with Eclipse Planning system
• Experience with Oncentra Planning system
• Strong organization and oral / written communication skil
