Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a therapeutic medical physicist to support clinical physics coverage at the Hall Perrine Cancer Center. The department operates with two radiation oncologists, two certified dosimetrists, and two board-certified medical physicists, and uses Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Tomotherapy, HDR, RayStation, Mosaiq, and GoOpenPro CT.

We provide 3D, IMRT, SRT/SBRT, IGRT, and HDR treatment types and seek a candidate active in program development and quality

Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts in medical physics or physics required.
  • Board certification by ABR in therapeutic medical physics preferred.
  • Experience in radiation oncology setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of radiation therapy equipment with regulatory and accreditation rules.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance program for safe and accurate delivery.
  • Review dosimetry components of treatment plans.
  • Perform QA measurements and calibration under supervision.
  • Assist in HDR and brachytherapy procedures under supervision.

*Eligible for $30,000 sign-on bonus/relocation assistanceMercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is seeking a therapeutic medical physicist to support clinical physics coverage at the Hall Perrine Cancer Center. The Hall Perrine Cancer Center embraces its long history of progressive cancer care in a supportive environment for both patients and staff. The Hall Radiation Center is a best-in-class environment with two Varian accelerators (TrueBeam and a Trilogy that will be replaced next year), a Tomotherapy system, Elekta HDR platform, RayStation treatment planning, and a Siemens GoOpenPro CT simulator. The RV system is Elekta Mosaiq and treatment types include 3D, IMRT, SRT/SBRT, IGRT and HDR. We are seeking a physicist to join our experienced team of two radiation oncologists, two certified dosimetrists, and partner with two board-certified medical physicists.Newly graduated residents, graduating residents, as well as existing experienced board-certified medical physicists are welcome to apply. In addition to routine medical physics coverage, the Hall Radiation Center medical physics team is actively involved in project management, clinical program development, quality improvement, and reports to the Cancer Center Director. Mercy Medical Center is a standalone organization and with no satellite clinics to cover. The department is fully staffed with minimal turnover and an outstanding team culture.The Cedar Rapids / Iowa City Corridor area is a vibrant area located in the rolling hills of southeastern Iowa with a total population of about 460,000.
