Job summary

Core Physicians, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is seeking an Medical Office Coordinator to provide administrative support to the physician practice, clinical staff, and patients across our Seacoast region.

You will greet patients, schedule appointments, collect co-pays, verify insurance eligibility, and balance daily transactions while upholding confidentiality and compassionate care in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years experience in a customer service environment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize superior customer service skills to perform daily administrative duties of the practice, including greeting, check in, check out, scheduling patients, answering telephones, and taking messages
  • Collect co-pays, verify insurance eligibility, update patient demographics, and maintain patient balances; meet TOS payments, eligibility, and denial rate performance metrics as assigned
  • Post payment and adjustment transactions, balance daily journal, and close batches; may be asked to prepare and deliver bank deposits in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Mentor and train new staff when required
  • Provide patient referrals, ensuring appropriate referrals for required visits in specialty offices
  • Assign new patients to a provider and care team to establish a care partnership; ensure scheduling consistency for continuity of care
  • Follow all standard work protocols and complete order and referral reconciliation
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the patient’s comfort, confidentiality, and concerns while maintaining a therapeutic environment for the patient and family in accordance with the provider and CORE standards
  • Provide coverage for other Core offices as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
