Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is part of the Medical University of South Carolina, supporting rural clinics across South Carolina. This role provides front-desk coverage, manages clinic appointments, handles multi-line telephones, collects payments, and registers patients.

You will also schedule interpreters and retrieve billing charges while ensuring smooth patient flow. Daily duties include appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, charge posting, and cash handling.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus health care experience or certification.
  • CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certification is acceptable.
  • Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic including monitoring the clinic appointment line to include scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, correction systems. Answer multiline telephones. Take payments from clients for clinical services. Complete client registration, and documentation. Schedule interpreters for clients. Retrieve billing charges. Job Description

•To provide constant and efficient operations of the physician medical office. Duties to include scheduling, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records, billing, and collections. Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check in/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. Position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a Certified Nursing Assistant; or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force are needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force are required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
