The Medical Assistant at MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) supports patient care and clinic operations under supervision of Providers and Office Manager. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 6 months of patient care experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for the required experience.
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Medical Assistant performs assigned patient care activities and related administrative duties under direct supervision of Providers and Office Manager. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force are needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force are required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. Ability to match or discriminate between colors. Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to work in a latex safe environment.
