Medical Office Assistant Cardiology - Hamilton Heart Center

Job Responsibilities
  1. Patient Care: Fulfills patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam rooms, assisting with walking transfers, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, taking patient history, performing screenings, charting, relaying instructions, answering calls, and providing information.
  2. Clerical Duties: Completes clerical responsibilities such as managing patient records, obtaining reports, completing forms, scheduling, verifying insurance and demographics, and maintaining charts.
  3. Environmental Responsibilities: Sets up instruments and equipment, cleans rooms and instruments, orders supplies, and restocks rooms.
  4. Organizational Responsibilities: Respects patient rights, responds to emergency codes, reports issues to supervisors.
  5. Clinical Responsibilities: Checks vital signs, prepares for exams, verifies prescriptions, handles biohazard waste, performs lab procedures including OSHA guidelines, CLIA-waived testing, venipunctures, specimen handling, EKG testing, and emergency first aid.
  6. Compliance: Adheres to MA scope of practice and NYS guidelines.
  7. Teamwork: Works with physicians, APPs, nurses, receptionists, and staff.
  8. Confidentiality: Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  9. Other Duties: Performs additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • BLS Certification required
  • Preferred: experience as MOA or MA, or certification as Medical Assistant or CNA in outpatient setting
