Job Title: Medical Office Assistant

Salary: $18.96 - $28.44 USD

Facility: Sisters of Charity Hospital

Shift: Shift 1

Status: Full Time | FTE: 1.000000

Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates

Exempt from Overtime: No

Work Schedule: Days

Hours: Monday-Friday, with Saturdays based on department needs. Hours vary: 8:00am-4:00pm, 8:30am-4:30pm, 9:00am-5:00pm

Summary

The Medical Office Assistant provides support to healthcare providers by preparing for patient examinations and clinical procedures. Responsibilities include recording vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and performing EKGs for provider review. The role also involves scheduling, registration, and reception duties within the Cardiology Clinic.

Responsibilities
Education
  • Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant or equivalent training program (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential (preferred)
Experience
  • At least 1 year of secretarial/receptionist experience in a hospital, primary care clinic, or physician's office (required). Alternatively, relevant knowledge of medical terminology, patient care, and office procedures acquired through schooling.
  • 2 years of experience as a Medical Office Assistant in a medical setting (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Answering telephones, compiling statistics, composing correspondence
  • Establishing and maintaining filing systems, data entry, maintaining logs
  • Proofreading documents, researching information, scheduling appointments
  • Knowledge of patient care, medical office practices, and procedures
  • Handling diagnostic equipment, performing EKGs, recording vitals in EMR
  • Proficiency with personal computers, photocopiers, fax machines
