UNC Health in Holly Springs, NC is seeking an administrative assistant to perform patient check-in/check-out, handle billing information, and provide customer service with strong computer and data-entry skills.

The role supports revenue cycle processes and requires a high school diploma or GED; preferred completion of a medical administrative assisting program. This onsite position offers standard 40-hour weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with revenue cycle and financial audit guidelines.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills, files, answers phones in a timely and professional manner providing complete and accurate information, and provides other administrative duties as required.
  • Accurately performs patient check in and check out procedures. Processes privileged patient health information (insurance verification and authorization, codes visits with ICD and CPT), balances receipts, and responds to billing questions.
  • Schedules patient appointments entering all required demographic and clinical information into the system.
  • Orders and maintains clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment.
  • Complies with safety and regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention) and participates in unit improvement activities.
  • Provides good customer service and communicates effectively with patients, families and staff.

Summary

Performs patient check in and check out procedures, processes financial information, and provides patient billing information. Demonstrates effective customer service and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements
  • Prefer completion of an accredited medical administrative assisting program and previous experience in a medical office.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients, or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Computer Skills: Ability to enter and process data accurately. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
