Job summary

Patient First is seeking a Laboratory professional in Richmond, VA, to perform specimen collection, processing, test analyses, and reporting while adhering to safety and quality controls.

Requirements include a minimum of 60 semester hours or an associate degree in chemistry, biology or related science, plus clinical rotations or military medical laboratory training. Registration-eligible or ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Keyboarding experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• One year of clerical experience preferred.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• 60 semester hours incl. chemistry/biology OR associate degree in related science.
• Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology/urinalysis/chemistry/hematology OR military Medical Laboratory Procedures course.
• MSP or MLT registry-eligible preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, analyze specimens and report results.
• Follow laboratory quality control policies and maintain records.
• Document quality controls, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Identify indicators impacting test performance and correct or notify supervisor.
• Order, receive, and distribute laboratory stock as needed.
• Understand checklists and perform duties per the position's checklists.
• Adhere to safety policies per Patient First and OSHA.
• Provide positive customer service in all interactions.
• Foster teamwork and a positive professional atmosphere.
• Complete other duties as directed.
