This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - Wake County.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 4312 District Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607,

The successful candidate in this position will serve as a CLIA Testing Personnel in the Newborn Screening Fluoroimmunoassay & Hemoglobinopathies Laboratory. This position performs high complexity laboratory testing utilizing FDA-cleared Kit Assays. This includes preparing specimens for analysis, operating automated and semi-automated equipment, reporting results in a Laboratory Information Management System, performing required Quality Assurance functions, and adhering to established SOPs and safety protocols. The successful candidate will have 2 years' experience in a clinical laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies

  • Bachelor s degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory in the assigned area; or Associate s degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of medical laboratory experience; or Completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with general laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Proven experience with clinical laboratory procedures and processes, handling potentially infectious materials, and the safety aspects associated with clinical laboratory testing.
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory team to provide reportable results

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of medical laboratory experience; or

Associate's degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of medical laboratory experience; or completion of a certified Laboratory Assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course and three years of medical laboratory experience; or

High school or General Educational Development diploma and five years of applicable medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
