Job description

Important: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their current roles before working in a temporary position. Each temporary employee is limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary role is located in Raleigh, Wake County, within the Department of Health and Human Services at 4312 District Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607, focusing on validating and implementing CLIA-compliant molecular methods for resistant bacteria, including bacterial culture, DNA extraction, real-time PCR, and WGS.

Qualifications: Applicants must meet CLIA '88 requirements, with relevant training and experience clearly reflected in their application. Attach transcripts or unofficial copies at interview.

  • Experience with infectious diseases and laboratory safety.
  • Experience in bacterial culture and molecular testing.
  • Preferred certification in molecular biology (ASCP or equivalent), experience with LIMS, and WGS on Illumina MiSeq.

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry, or biological sciences with 2 years of lab experience, or an associate’s degree with 3 years, or completion of a certified course with 4 years, or an equivalent combo.
