BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Medical Laboratory Technologist Generalist (MLT II) – REG – Core Lab (Missouri Baptist Medical Center).

$10,000 Automatic Sign On Bonus Eligible!!!

  • 401K plan & either a Pension Plan or a 403 (b)!!!

Position Details:

  • Core Lab Position (Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Processing, and Urinalysis)
  • Generalist Role
  • Full -Time (non -remote / in-office position)
  • Day Shift: 5 – 8 hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week
  • Rotating weekends and holidays (1 or 2 holidays per year)
  • Cerner Millenium (LIS), Epic, Instrument Manager, Sysmex WAM (hematology middleware), Cellavision (hematology application), Biorad Unity (Chemistry QC), and Wellsky (Blood Bank System).
  • Lab Equipment used includes an Sysmex in Hematology, Roche in Chemistry, and Ortho-Visions in Blood Bank
  • Customer Service, Sendouts

Experience:

  • Lab experience (preferred)

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Physical/Life Sciences or related field
  • ASCP, AMT, or AAB Registration

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice.

Responsibilities

  • Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and stats.
  • Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
  • Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.

  • Associate's Degree in Physical/Life Science or related

Licenses & Certifications

  • ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent or eligible
