Beloit Health System, Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory team in Beloit, WI.

The position features varied shifts and start times with per diem hours, and involves performing and evaluating complex tests to aid diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include analyzing body fluids with manual and automated methods, reporting results, troubleshooting equipment, maintaining QC and calibration, and coordinating with physicians as needed.

Formación

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician and/or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
• Must be eligible to take the registry exam.
• Registration by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists within one year of hire.
• Promptness in answering phone requests, instrument alarms, and out-patient alarms.
• Ability to report results via computer and paper or call-back results if indicated.
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly in emergency situations.
• Maintain ethical conduct and protect patient confidentiality.
• Plan, prioritize and respond to information within required timeframes.
• Reporting relationship: Managers and Department Director.

Responsabilidades

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of body fluids with manual and automated instrumentation.
• Accurately report results of tests and procedures.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and use alternative methods when appropriate.
• Maintain laboratory equipment; perform instrument checks, QC, calibration and maintenance.
• Meet turnaround times for routine and STAT tests.
• Access, input, and retrieve information from the EMR.
• Communicate with physicians when callback value problems exist.
• Assist with specimen processing, processing orders and drawing outpatients.
• Perform glucometer runs.
• Adhere to lab cleaning schedule and log activities.
• Process reference laboratory requests and reports.
• Receive and register lab requests and specimens from outside sources via EMR.
