Job description

The ChristianaCare Laboratory located on the Cecil campus in Elkton, MD, is currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist. This position is Evening shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm.) Every other weekend, and rotating holidays per year required.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately performs all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual.

  • Performs and records all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Follows established quality control procedures, documenting corrective action if necessary.

  • Adheres to all turnaround times, documents calls as necessary, verifies critical values and specimen identification.

  • Verifies completion of all stat results and all routine results in a timely manner.

  • Records workload and other statistics into computer system as necessary.

  • Performs assigned work safely adhering to established department safety rules and practices.

  • Performs other related duties as instructed.

Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology, or

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science, or,

  • Completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician)

  • ASCP (MLT) certification preferred.
