Job description

The ChristianaCare Laboratory located on the Cecil campus in Elkton, MD, is currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist. This position is evening shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm). Every other weekend and rotating holidays are required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all test procedures accurately as listed in the procedure manual.
• Perform and record all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures.
• Follow established quality control procedures and document corrective actions if necessary.
• Adhere to turnaround times, document calls, verify critical values and specimen identification.
• Verify completion of all stat and routine results in a timely manner.
• Record workload and other statistics into the computer system as necessary.
• Perform work safely, adhering to department safety rules and practices.
• Perform other related duties as instructed.

Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology, or
• Associate or bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences, or
• Completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks with the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician)
• ASCP (MLT) certification preferred.
