Job summary

Atrium Health in Byron, GA seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to work under the Clinical Lab Supervisor and fellow technologists, performing a variety of laboratory examinations to ensure rapid and accurate results. The incumbent will calibrate and maintain instruments, perform quality control, assist with specimen collection and processing, and support LIS/HIS systems.

Qualifications

• Must have high school or GED diploma and an associate degree in applied sciences.
• Registered MLT/ASCP or equivalent (as determined by Professional Director).
• One year of experience preferred; evening/night shift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports various laboratory tests in the assigned section per procedures.
• Calibrates, standardizes equipment and performs minor maintenance; identifies malfunctions and seeks supervision.
• Conducts quality control and proficiency testing to ensure instrument accuracy.
• Assists in specimen collection, processing, and accessioning; maintains clerical records.
• Familiar with LIS (and HIS if appropriate).
• Assists with special projects and mentoring of others; maintains positive work environment.
• Supports teaching responsibilities for other MLTs and Tech Extenders; participates in orientation.
• Assists technologists with supply management for the section.
