Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate testing and reporting in the Laboratory Information System.
  • Follow safety protocols for handling body fluids and samples.
  • Perform maintenance on lab instruments and monitor inventory.

Job description

Position Summary : Madison Core Laboratories' Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for producing accurate test results in a timely manner.

_This position is for a part-time with hours from 2:00pm-6:30pm T-F & a morning 4-hour shift on Saturdays (start times can vary). Total 20 hours weekly. _

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Follow protocol to safely handle and dispose of blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids,

  • Accurately perform, evaluate, interpret, and report tests in the Laboratory Information System,

  • Review quality control and calibration prior to releasing patient results,

  • Perform testing using automated and manual methods,

  • Correlates and interprets laboratory data based on knowledge of physiological condition affecting patient testing results

  • Demonstrate critical thinking in required work areas,

  • Execute required maintenance on all lab instrumentation,

  • Correctly identify and label patient specimens,

  • Monitor laboratory inventory to maintain adequate stock,

  • Properly collect samples from patients, as needed,

  • Assist in all laboratory functions as required to maintain appropriate patient care,

  • Label and properly store send out samples according to laboratory protocol,

  • Collaborate with others as needed,

  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology or related, requi red.
  • Bachelors degree (B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school in Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology or related, preferred.
  • Qualify as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA rule 493.1489, required.
  • Phlebotomy experience, preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

  • Medical Technician, Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency, preferred.

  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), preferred.

  • American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), acceptable.

Other Qualifications , if applicable:

  • Maintain compliance with local, federal, HIPAA, CLIA, and CAP regulations
  • Ensure all company safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met

Wok Conditions: Medical Laboratory Technicians/Technologists employed at Madison Core Laboratories will perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion. Lifting of up to 50 lbs. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and overhead lifting.
