The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s degree, certification in clinical laboratory science, and is eligible for certification within a year.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required with CLS certification or eligibility.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information System (LIS) procedures.
• Ability to verify specimen integrity and test results.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency related to job functions.

Description:

• Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.
• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.

Requirements:

• Associate’s degree.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.
• Clinical Laboratory Science Certified within 1 year.
