Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist (North/Central Float)

Job Purpose

Perform routine medical laboratory tests under supervision for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. May also perform phlebotomy. Maintain compliance, confidentiality, and support organizational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Process specimens, perform tests, report results.
  • Coordinate specimen pickup/delivery.
  • Maintain proficiency testing records.
  • Follow quality control policies and document activities.
  • Recognize and address measurement issues.
  • Identify critical results, inform relevant personnel, document findings.
  • Communicate test results and specimen requirements.
  • Mentor students and new staff.
  • Ensure test accuracy and system performance.
  • Administer tests per policies, apply TQM principles.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and compliance policies.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work holiday shifts as needed.
Additional Duties
  • Perform phlebotomy if qualified.
  • Assist with assessments, scheduling, and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
For Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT):
  • Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT training.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
  • Phlebotomy skills may be required.
For Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT):
  • Bachelor’s in a related science plus completion of an accredited program and 1+ years experience, or four or more years of experience in lieu.
  • Certification eligibility (ASCP or AMT).
  • Phlebotomy skills may be required.

  • Knowledge of lab policies, CLIA regulations.
  • Attention to detail, multitasking, teamwork.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Professional conduct and problem-solving abilities.
Work Schedule

40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
