Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. May also perform phlebotomy. Maintains compliance, confidentiality, and promotes organizational mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens, perform tests, and report results.
• Coordinate specimen pickup or delivery.
• Maintain records for proficiency testing.
• Follow quality control policies; document activities.
• Recognize and address factors affecting test results.
• Handle critical or alert test results appropriately.
• Communicate test results and requirements.
• Mentor students and new staff in laboratory techniques.
• Ensure proper functioning of testing systems and corrective actions.
• Administer tests following established policies.
• Apply Total Quality Management principles.
• Follow all safety and compliance policies (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).
• Maintain dependable attendance and work scheduled shifts, including holidays.

Additional Duties

• Perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Assist with lab assessments and scheduling.
• Perform high complexity testing under supervision if qualified.
• Support other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

For MLT: Associate degree, completion of lab training, ASCP or AMT preferred, qualified under CLIA.

For MLS/MT: Bachelor’s degree in a related science, clinical lab or medical technology training, 1+ years experience, certification eligible (ASCP or AMT), phlebotomy may be required, qualified under CLIA.

Work Schedule
