A Brief Overview
Follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations.
What You Will Do
- Accurately and efficiently perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes for laboratory testing.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Perform and evaluate all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results.
- Evaluate laboratory test results according to protocols to ensure quality patient care.
- Document all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures.
- Maintain and demonstrate competency in the assigned area.
- Take responsibility for self-development and complete all mandatory assignments within allowed timelines.
- Participate actively in departmental projects.
- Collaborate with the laboratory supervisor to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Train students and new team members; serve as a resource for technical staff.
- Assess the competency of team members as assigned.

- Adhere to policies on maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI); complete annual training and follow UH policies.
Education
- Associate's Degree in biological or chemical sciences (Required)
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in a highly complex laboratory setting within clinical disciplines such as Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Molecular, Microbiology, Histology, Cytology, etc. (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred; required upon hire.
