Job Overview

Performs routine and highly complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens in various sections of the laboratory under supervision.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods. (50%)
  2. Operate, calibrate, check, and maintain instrumentation. Recognize problems with quality control and test procedures and take appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information. (30%)
  3. Participate in programs to stay updated with current and changing technologies. (5%)
  4. Collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures within expected time frames. (5%)
  5. Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations. (5%)
  6. Mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new employees in laboratory testing following AHN policies and procedures. (5%)
  7. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Associate's degree in an ASCP-eligible program or equivalent. Meet ongoing education requirements for certification.
Preferred
  • Clinical laboratory experience.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
