Job Purpose
Perform laboratory tests in hematology, toxicology, microbiology, immunology, and chemistry. This position is responsible for collecting and processing patient samples and performing clinical laboratory analysis at all complexity levels for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Any position that involves direct patient care is considered safety sensitive by Avem Health Partners’ standards.
Essential Functions Include But Not Limited To
- Process laboratory specimens and report results in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
- Maintain laboratory records.
- Perform routine and stat laboratory assays.
- Perform qualitative urine analysis; color, clarity, specific gravity.
- Ensure patient safety and reduce medical/health care errors during patient care activities.
- Maintain quality results through running standards and controls, verifying equipment function, and monitoring quality control measures.
- Operate hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation equipment; perform manual differentials.
- Properly collect blood culture specimens, perform moderate complexity organism identification, and report findings.
- Ensure compatibility of blood/blood components through proper collection, labeling, and processing for reference testing.
- Keep the laboratory sterile and organized.
- Follow laboratory policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Science.
- Generalist skill set in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, ABGs, Urine Microbiology, Spot Testing, and Blood Banking.
- Proficiency with computers.
Licensure/Certifications
- MLT-ASCP Certification required.
- Current BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job duties, with reasonable accommodations if needed.

- Prolonged standing, walking, pulling, and reaching are necessary.
