Job summary

Essentia Health's Virginia hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and report a range of CLIA-defined tests for patients of all ages. You will participate in QA/QC, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, specimen processing, and phlebotomy, while delivering strong customer care.

The role requires an associate degree in MLT or CLIA-compliant credentials, with ASCP certification within one year of hire. Day/Eve/Night shifts with weekend work are included.

Education Qualifications:

Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route

Key Responsibilities:

• Will perform and report tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and injuries.
• Will also exhibit problem solving skills of a complex nature, participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control Monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, specimen processing, phlebotomy, along with customer service.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent; within one year of hire
