Job summary

Koniag Government Services is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to support Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, TX. The role involves performing a full range of laboratory tests and maintaining quality control in a government contracting environment.

Ideal candidates hold NAACLS/ABHES accredited MLT training, ASCP/AMT certification or state licensure, and at least 12 months of recent experience, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a NAACLS/ABHES accredited MLT program or AMT-equivalent
• Minimum 12 months of experience within the past 36 months
• Certification as MLT by ASCP/AMT or state licensure
• Background investigation and CHBC clearance required
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of clinical lab tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis and blood bank
• Calibrate, standardize, and maintain laboratory instruments
• Conduct quality control on equipment, reagents and products
• Prepare specimens and reagents; report results to supervisors
• Assist with front desk tasks, including patient greeting and phlebotomy
• Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous waste and maintain clean work areas

Kadiak LLC,a Koniag Government Services company, has multiple openings for qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to support Kadiak and our government customer at Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, TX.

Successful candidates will play a crucial role in supporting our medical facilities by performing a wide range of laboratory tests and maintaining high standards of quality control.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT)
• Minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 36 months
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician
• Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, and Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Core Duties:

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
• Determine specification suitability for analysis and prepare specimens accordingly
• Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary
• Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain laboratory instruments
• Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
• Prepare specimens for transport or mail/ship out
• Handle and dispose of biological waste properly
• Report unusual or grossly abnormal test results to section supervisor, pathologist or laboratory supervisor
• Perform light general cleaning of work areas
• Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports
• Record test results to flat logs and request slips and file reports in the MHS Genesis.
• Accession and order laboratory testing in MHS Genesis for clinic patients.
• Perform basic front desk administrative tasks, greet patients warmly, log-in lab orders, provide sample collection instructions, perform phlebotomy, and process patient samples for laboratory testing.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Verify correct instrument operation and identify/resolve common problems
• Obtain and correlate analytical data
• Maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports
• Report unusual or abnormal test results to supervisors
• Screen/order officer training school accessions for required testing (JBSA-L specific)

Additional Requirements:

• Successful candidates must be Up to date on immunizations
• Annual Flu immunizations are required
