Job summary

Columbia Basin Hospital is seeking a dedicated per diem Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Laboratory team in Washington. The role involves performing routine lab testing, collecting specimens, and ensuring accurate documentation while supporting on-call coverage.

Per diem schedule offers flexible shifts across day, evening, and night to meet patient care needs. Required qualifications include an Associate's degree in a relevant science and Washington State Phlebotomist

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or technical science in medical laboratory technology, with one year of clinical internship.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing in multiple laboratory disciplines.
• Collect patient specimens via capillary, venipuncture, and arterial puncture.
• Register patients and ensure accurate specimen identification and documentation.
• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory assistant duties as needed.
• Rotate through laboratory sections, including weekend and evening shifts as assigned.
• Participate in on-call coverage to support emergency laboratory services.
• Maintain quality standards while providing accurate and timely test results.

What You'll Do:

• Perform routine laboratory testing in multiple laboratory disciplines.
• Collect patient specimens through capillary, venipuncture, and arterial puncture techniques.
• Register patients and ensure accurate specimen identification and documentation.
• Perform phlebotomy and laboratory assistant duties as needed.
• Rotate through laboratory sections, including weekend and evening shifts as assigned.
• Participate in on-call coverage to support emergency laboratory services.
• Maintain quality standards while providing accurate and timely test results.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or technical science in medical laboratory technology, to include one year of clinical internship.
• Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist certification.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain certification within one week of hire.
• Ability to practice within legal and ethical guidelines and provide compassionate care for patients across the age continuum.
