Job summary

Saint Luke's Health System in Chillicothe, Ohio, seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform testing in a CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified laboratory. The position ensures accuracy, timely reporting, and integrity of results while working a 5:30 PM–6:00 AM shift on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

You will follow lab procedures, participate in proficiency testing, report results in the LIS/EMR, maintain instrumentation, and collaborate with managers and scientists to resolve technical issues

Qualifications

• ASCP MT certification required.
• Associate degree in medical laboratory technology required.
• Less than 1 year of applicable experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical laboratory testing in CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified lab.
• Report results in LIS/EMR as ordered by providers.
• Review QC results to validate patient results.
• Maintain instrumentation and ensure acceptable performance.
• Collaborate with Manager and Medical Laboratory Scientists to resolve issues.

Job Description

Performs medical laboratory testing in a CAP accredited, CLIA-certified laboratory. This position is responsible for the accuracy, timely reporting and integrity of laboratory results.

• Shift: 530pm-6am Friday, Saturday and Sunday

• Has working knowledge of and performs testing in accordance with laboratory’s policy, procedures and regulatory standards.

• Successful performance in laboratory’s external proficiency program.

• Organizes and prioritizes multiple technical tasks with maximum efficiency and minimal waste.

• Reports laboratory results in the Hospital LIS/EMR, as ordered by providers.

• Reviews and approves quality control results to affirm validity of patient results.

• Maintains instrumentation and confirms acceptable performance.

• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve technical, instrumental and physiological issues that interfere with accurate testing.

• Works collaboratively with Manager and Medical Laboratory Scientists and recognizes scenarios that require assistance.
