Job summary

Family Health West seeks a skilled Medical Technologist to perform a variety of determinations on bodily fluids, ensure accurate results, and support patient care in a hospital laboratory setting.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a medical science field and ASCP MT certification. A minimum of three years hospital lab experience is preferred; licensure within 6 months may be required. Full-time, rotating shifts with on-call and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science or chemical, physical or biological science preferred.
• Current ASCP certified as Medical Technician or equivalent; licensure required within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of three years clinical background in hospital laboratory.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform determinations on bodily fluids such as pregnancy test, urinalysis and complete blood counts; verify results and report findings.
• Maintain reliable and punctual attendance; be present as scheduled.
• Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
• Collect body fluids and materials (urine, blood, throat cultures).
• Perform and review quality control in testing; ensure results are within acceptable ranges and troubleshoot problems.
• Perform instrument maintenance.
• Responsible for inventory control.
• Perform any Calibration or QC as needed.
• Collaborate with others in patient care activities.
• Solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, verbal, or diagram form.
