Medical Laboratory Scientist PRN – Core lab

Position Highlights:

  • Work location: Texas Health Resources
  • Utilize laboratory equipment (computers, instruments) for hospital use only.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and professional appearance.
  • Seek assistance or supervision as needed and report issues regarding patient care to your supervisor.
  • Interact professionally with colleagues and promote customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to the THR Promise Behaviors.

Test Procedures:

  • Follow established laboratory test procedures, including computer protocols.
  • Evaluate and report test results accurately.
  • Communicate relevant patient data to appropriate personnel.
  • Relay information about instrument malfunctions, unusual results, or testing issues to the next shift and coworkers.
  • Provide guidance to technical staff and support personnel.

Quality Control/Documentation:

  • Understand and follow quality control guidelines.
  • Follow policies when quality control results are outside established limits.
  • Resolve quality control discrepancies before releasing patient results.
  • Document and review QC, perform equipment maintenance, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Participate in proficiency testing following laboratory protocols.

Safety:

  • Incorporate safety and infection control measures into daily work.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and hospital safety policies.
  • Participate in safety drills and report incidents using the event reporting tool.
