Job summary

Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and report test analyses under minimal supervision in the pathology laboratory. Duties include specimen processing, test performance and maintaining results in accordance with regulatory standards.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a clinical laboratory science or related field, eligibility for ASCP/ASCPi/AMT exam, and certification as MLS/MT within 18 months of hire.

  • Proof of eligibility for the ASCP, ASCPi, AMT or equivalent board certification exam, upon hire.
  • Must be Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certified within 18 months of hire.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and include specimen processing, test performance and maintaining of test results. Some procedures are complex and require professional judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Must show proof of eligibility for the ASCP, ASCPi, AMT or equivalent board certification exam, upon hire.
  • Must be Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certified within 18 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical lab experience preferred.
