Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis, assuming responsibility and accountability.
• Conduct routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Ensure timely and accurate results through technical expertise.
• Obtain and process specimens following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate pertinent data effectively to care providers.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
• Train and mentor new employees, students, or interns, including lectures and bench techniques.
• Prioritize and organize workload, assisting coworkers to maintain productivity.
• Follow proper infection control practices, ensure proper patient identification, and perform prompt specimen transport.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Baccalaureate Degree or Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, or related scientific field.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• ASCP certification or equivalent (e.g., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP)).
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist.
