Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Outpatient Center. You will independently perform moderate and high complexity testing, operate instrumentation, and ensure adherence to CAP and hospital guidelines.

The role requires a Florida MT license and a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, with ASCP certification preferred. The position is on-site at Healthplex Brandon, Tampa, with duties in the Laboratory Services department.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Florida state Medical Technologist license.
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or related area required after 1/1/2021.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all levels of moderate and high complexity testing following established policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Operate and maintain instrumentation according to laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Exercise independent judgement in recognizing and solving test-related problems.
• Perform job duties in accordance with CAP Regulations and Tampa General Hospital mission, vision and values.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or related area (post 2021)
