Position Summary:

Performs a variety of waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests on patients of all ages, as defined by CMS-2226-F: 42 CFR 493 Medicare, Medicaid, and CLIA programs. Applies principles, theories, and techniques according to Laboratory Practices and Procedures to produce accurate test results in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
• Graduation from an NAACLS-approved laboratory training program applicable to the position.
• Alternatively, qualification under route 2, 3, or 4 of the ACSP Board of Certification.
• Must be registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or eligible to sit for the MLS certification exam.
• Successful completion of the certification exam within 12 months of employment.
• Cerifications obtained after January 1, 2004, must be renewed every three years through Certification Maintenance.

Preferred: Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ACSP) in a clinical laboratory setting.
