Responsibilities

• Perform clinical microbiology tests in one or more laboratory sections.
• Maintain and calibrate multiplex instrumentation systems to ensure accuracy.
• Resolve technical and interdepartmental problems and take corrective action as needed.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervising personnel.

Hourly Pay Range: $30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights: Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - Microbiology Location: Evanston Hospital Full Time/Part Time: Full Time Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, e/o weekend and rotating holidays What you will do: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs various clinical microbiology tests in one or more sections of the laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures the accuracy and precision of diagnostic results through performance of maintenance and calibration of multiplex instrumentation systems. Routinely resolves technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various laboratory areas. Readily identify problems that may adversely affect performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying supervising personnel when appropriate. Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with others. Good communication and organizational skills. What you will need: Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a laboratory science or medical technology and/or the required courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing. Certification: MT or MLS (ASCP) preferred Experience: Experience preferred Unique or Preferred Skills: Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various Laboratory areas with assistance and under supervision. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action. Good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
