Job summary

A leading surgical hospital in North Texas is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist for night shifts. This entry-level position requires a relevant degree and offers a range of responsibilities in laboratory testing, compliance, and data analysis in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred two (2) years’ experience in an accredited laboratory.
• Certification by an accrediting agency such as MT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP), CT(ASCP), MT (HEW), MT (AMT), MT (NCA), CHT, or CHS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in all laboratory testing within the scope of services.
• Develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CLIA and The Joint Commission standards.
• Analyzes data for report development for Medical Director review and approval.

Skills

Knowledge of governmental and regulatory policies/standards

Location: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital serving the greater North Texas area, offering a wide range of medical and surgical services across 8 ORs, 24 private inpatient rooms, and a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in inpatient and outpatient procedures including Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General Surgery, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, among others.

The MLS/MT provides expertise in all laboratory testing within the scope of services, develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CLIA and The Joint Commission standards, and analyzes data for report development for Medical Director review and approval.

Required Skills:

• Doctoral, master's, or bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology, or nursing from an accredited institution.
• Preferred two (2) years’ experience in an accredited laboratory; experience with Point of Care Testing, moderately complex testing, and highly complex testing (blood bank) is preferred.
• Certification by an accrediting agency such as MT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP), CT(ASCP), MT (HEW), MT (AMT), MT (NCA), CHT, or CHS (preferred).
• Knowledge of governmental and regulatory policies/standards.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to detect color and color changes.
