Formación

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science.
• Four years of high complexity lab experience.
• ASCP/AMT MT/MLS or BB/SBB or BB/C/H/M/SM certification required.

Responsabilidades

• Ensures accurate and timely analysis of specimens using laboratory techniques.
• Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing per procedures.
• Collaborates to develop and update SOPs for best practices.
• Monitors equipment and processes, troubleshoots issues to minimize downtime.
• Supports training and onboarding of new technologists and evaluates competency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead analyzes human samples, such as blood, tissue, and body fluids, to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels, blood type, and the presence of microorganisms. This role is responsible for utilizing automated equipment and specialized instrumentation to prepare samples and perform multiple complex tests that provide valuable information on diseases. This role also guides less experienced team members through training, onboarding and answering questions.

Essential Job Function:

• Ensures accurate and timely analysis of specimens using various laboratory techniques to ensure positive specimen identification while maintaining proper documentations.
• Performs testing of laboratory specimens (pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical) according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with laboratory management to develop and update standard operating procedures to ensure adherence to best practices and continuous improvement in specimen processing.
• Monitors and troubleshoots equipment and testing processes, promptly addressing technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain reliable laboratory operations.
• Supports the training and onboarding of new technologists to facilitate their integration into the team and ensuring consistent competency evaluations to uphold high standards of performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.

Experience:

• Required: Four years of laboratory experience in a high complexity laboratory in designated specialty or subspecialty.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

• Required: Must have Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) pr Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB) or Technologist in Blood Banking (BB) or Technologist in Chemistry (C) or Technologist in Hematology (H) or Technologist in Microbiology (M) or Specialist in Microbiology (SM) by ASCP or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
