Job summary

UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist to perform analytical testing on tissue, blood and body fluids using advanced instrumentation and manual methods. You will oversee test performance by technicians and ensure high-quality results in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Must hold FL CLT licensure qualifications and meet NAACLS/BOC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent that meets qualifications for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist from the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel
• Must meet state licensure requirements as stated in FL Statue 64B3-5.003 Technologist
• One (1) year experience in NAACLS approved program OR one (1) year working as a Technologist in a hospital laboratory
• New hires effective October 1, 2024 must have a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field. Academic equivalent OR academic and work experience combination equivalency acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform simple and complex analysis on tissue, blood and body fluids using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods and procedures
• Approve the performance of tests by technicians
• Assume accountability for patient tests by providing a high standard of quality using independent judgment in the performance of standard operating procedures and complex instrumentation in varying sample environments
